It Was a Thing on TV Twin Pack: Episode 180 & 181 - The Olympics Triplecast/What Would Ryan Lochte Do?

For the next two weeks It Was a Thing on TV goes Olympic as we talk about some Olympics related topics.

First, we start off our coverage is one of the biggest flops of all time.  Three channels of 24/7 Olympic coverage for $125 in 1992?  What's the catch?  There are a few.  At least those who bought in to the Olympic Triplecast have a Triplecast remote control which likely doesn't do anything nowadays.

Then, Our Olympic extravaganza continues with a look into the life and loves of Ryan Lochte, the semi-quotable and infamous star of the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympic games.  The first half of this edition is about What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, while the second half is mostly about Lochte's wit and wis-dumb including interviews and quotes said by the man himself.  Jeah!

Also, remember to follow our socials on @ItWasAThingOnTV and any e-mails or show feedback can be sent to itwasathingontv@gmail.com

Jeah!

It Was a Thing on TV Tripleheader: Episodes 177, 178 & 179 - Telly…Who Loves Ya, Baby?/Voyagers!/Larry “Bud’ Melman

This week It Was a Thing on TV Presents a mega jumbo drop for you with three action-packed episodes filled with singing, time travel and Larry "Bud" Melman.

First, everybody had a variety show in the 70s, or at least it seemed that way.  Telly Savalas was no exception, starring in this one-off special with Diahann Carroll, Barbara Eden, and Cloris Leachman.  Grab a sucker and contemplate the question, "Who loves ya, Baby?"

Then, we talk about  the 1980s time traveling cult favorite Voyagers!  This could have lasted more than a season, but NBC did a boneheaded move in 1983.  You can hear more about that decision in this episode.

Finally, we have honored TV celebrities in the past. We pay tribute to an icon from the 80s and 90s, Larry "Bud" Melman.  Not only was he a comic foil on Letterman's shows, he had bit parts in other TV shows and movies, he was a writer, he was a spokesman, and he even had his own workout video...sort of.  Grab your Toast on a Stick and enjoy this installment of It Was a Thing on TV.

NBA Team - Gone Fishin’: La Niña

As our gone fishin' offseason series continues, we now focu on teams that set sail this year and landed in the playoffs... only some crashed and burned earlier into their journeys than others.  This episode features Utah, Boston, Denver, Miami, and the LA Clippers. Why La Niña, you ask? It's because during these episodes, Adam's daughter decided now was the time to start training for a marathon during these episodes, so sorry for the background noise. Anyway, Enjoy

Making Mt. Rushmore - Athlete Movie And TV Performances & Wrestler Movie And TV Performances

In the twenty-second episode of Making Mt. Rushmore, panelists “The Cowboy” Roger Morrissette, Steve Riddle, Jon Keselica & Logan Crosland join moderator Andy Atherton to discuss which Athlete Movie & TV Performances deserve a place on their respective lists. Is The Michael Jordan in “Space Jam” a no-brainer? What about Mike Tyson in “The Hangover”? Does Carl Weathers in “Rocky” grab a spot? Does Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in “Airplane!” or Dan Marino in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” deserve a place? After that, they discuss which Wrestler Movie & TV Performances will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that Dave Bautista in “The Guardians of the Galaxy” shouldn’t get a spot? Will Roddy Piper in “They Live” be included? Is Andre The Giant in “The Princess Bride” in the conversation? What about Hulk Hogan in “No Holds Barred” & Jesse Ventura in “The Predator”?

It Was a Thing on TV: Episode 176 - The Bicentennial Minute (Director’s Cut)

This week It Was a Thing on TV presents what may be one of their best efforts yet as they look into the history of CBS' Bicentennial Minute segments produced between 1974-1976.

The butt of many a joke in its day and even into the 21st century, The Bicentennial Minute was an occasionally bland but also occasionally interesting minute-long segment delivered by a celebrity about what happened in U.S. history 200 years ago that day.  Celebrate your Fourth of July holiday listening about this patriotic throwback to the 70s.
