On the premiere episode of Cartoons Of Our Youth, Andy Atherton welcomes Shawn Kidd to talk about one of his favorite cartoons growing up, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. Since it is also one of Andy’s favorites, the guys share memories and deep dive into this iconic cartoon series from the 1980’s. They discuss their favorite characters, looking at you Snake Eyes; go over some of their favorite storylines; gush about the figures, toys and collectibles that they each had before moving on to live watch the two episodes that Shawn selected for them. The ones picked are the two parts of “There’s No Place Like Springfield” with Shipwreck, of all characters, being the main focus of the storyline. Remember, knowing is half the battle.

This week on It Was a Thing on TV, prepare for trouble and make it double as we go to the courtroom!
First, a long awaited reboot of Night Court will debut. In honor of the event, we are going back to a show which could be considered the inspiration for the original Night Court. Sirota's Court has a similar feel, but it only lasted several months in 1976 and 1977. There were reasons, including a controversial plot line and going up against the biggest miniseries ever.
Next, Chico's birthday is coming up and he's playing his Money in the Bank on this gem from the 1980s with twins. One is good and the other is troublesome...at least in the first season. Also, Greg comes up with an idea for a prequel for Jake and the Fatman.
Finally, Greg saw this commercial one day and felt it was deserving of a minisode. Did you ever feel the Metaverse deserved it's own law firm? We didn't either.

We are at the midway point of the 2022-23 NBA regular season, but Adam Murray and Andrew Riche, Place To Be Nation’s NBA-Team, are already in midseason form! In this episode, things seem to be mellow, but why are some teams like the Suns, Bulls and Hawks seem to be ready to push their own panic buttons? Riche and Adam also talk about the Lakers being in midseason purgatory, the Knicks picking up steam thanks to Jalen Brunson’s hot streak, Victor Wembenyama sitting court side to watch the Bulls and Pistons in Paris, and much more! So suit up and take it out in episode 263 with the NBA-Team!

On Episode #3 of Trader of the Lost Arcs, a loving look back on the comics we love, Tim Capel leads Shawn Kidd, Scott Shifflett and Andy Atherton through a limited four issue series from 1987, “G.I. Joe And The Transformers.” More known for their respective cartoon shows, this series placed two of the biggest Hasbro properties together in story that intertwines through many twists and turns featuring: protests that go from peaceful to violent, mind control, the destruction of a beloved Autobot, fear of the unknown, power struggles, the needs of the few vs. the needs of the many, unlikely alliances, major character deaths, political power plays, a secret love affair and an assassination, all the while the destruction of the planet Earth and fate of the human race hangs in the balance.
The panel has as many questions as they do answers while discussing the material: why certain characters were either excluded or got limited visibility; where in the timeline of each property the story takes place; the “off-screen” death and/or disappearances of Optimus Prime, Megatron & Cobra Commander; whether Power Station Alpha a deus ex machina or not; Hawk’s lack of leadership and morals; Bumblebee’s “flying envy”; the reason why Shockwave and not Starscream is scheming to take over the Decepticons; Dr. Mindbender & The Baroness carrying the load for Cobra; the lack of new leader for the Autobots; and have these properties been co-existing, unbeknownst to each other, the whole time?
