As this year's Tournament comes to its conclusion, Andrew and Adam wrap up our discussion on the best prospects to walk through the respective campuses in the past 22 years.

This week on It Was a Thing on TV we have a lot of stock footage and glop but remember that our topics are Top Secret!
 
First, it was a movie in 1990, and a successful one at that.  Two years later, a Darkman pilot was done for FOX.  The password is "expository."  And what's the deal with a 16-year-old playing a cop?  Listen to this episode and you'll know what we're talking about.
 
Next, Pyramid was cancelled months earlier, Blackout wasn't getting the viewers, and CBS had Family Feud waiting in the wings in early 1988.  Enter Wink Martindale with his format Top Secret which didn't crack CBS' lineup but had its own board game.  Be warned there is some whispering, followed by louder audio.  Respect your eardrums.
 
Finally, in the early 90s, if you had a beef with someone, you couldn't necessarily take them to a TV courtroom.  Enter a show with boxing, trash cans, and feather dusters, where combatants took their issues to the ring.  The Grudge Match is a show we have wanted to cover for some time and thanks to another podcast, a full episode made its way online recently.

Now that the NCAA  tournament is in full swing, Andrew and Adam look back over this past century to debate who are the greatest NBA products to come out of all the college ranks. While some (Syracuse) are incredibly easy, others like UConn are a lot more difficult to peg. So sit back and enjoy some "oh yeah, he did go to that school" talk.

For the first time ever Mike, Chico and Greg pay tribute to the legends that have made It Was a Thing on TV in the past two years of the podcast.
 
In the first (of hopefully many) Hall of Fame ceremonies they look at 12 inductees they feel are deserving in the show lore and are worthy of being named to the show's Hall of Fame.

In the thirtieth episode of Making Mt. Rushmore, panelists Kyle Litke & Jonnie Sea join moderator/panelist Steve Riddle to discuss which Horror Video Games deserve a place on their respective lists. Is Resident Evil a no-brainer? What about Metroid? Does Doom grab a spot? Does Silent Hill 2 or Five Nights At Freddy’s deserve a place? After that, they discuss which RPGs will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that Final Fantasy shouldn’t get a spot? Will Kingdom Hearts be included? Is World Of Warcraft in the conversation? What about Earthbound & Legend Of The Red Dragon?

This week It Was a Thing on TV celebrates it's 250th (and 251st) Episode as Pilot Month 2022 continues as we look at two pilots brought to you from two all-time legends.
 
First, it's the early 70s.  Gene Roddenberry hit it big with Star Trek and is looking to create the next big thing.  He pitches Genesis II to CBS in 1973, who is not interested.  He tinkers with the format a bit, pitches it to ABC as Planet Earth in 1974, and is shut out again.  There was a third pilot with this format pitched a year later and guess what?  Three strikes and you're out.
 
Then, CBS was having a tough go in the late 80s, in an era dominated by NBC.  They gave a pilot not unlike UHF spearheaded by Eddie Murphy a chance, but it was one and done.  Don't change that channel and discover What's Alan Watching?

This week on It Was a Thing on TV we got superheroes and dogs that aren't dogs. Confused? You won't be after this week's shows.
 
First, we start our 3rd annual pilot month with a look at a potential revival of the Wonder Woman franchise from 2011.  And we thought the worst part was Dr. Phil, Nancy Grace, Jeffrey Toobin and Alan Dershowitz in the first 5 minutes.  This isn't your Lynda Carter Wonder Woman.
 
Then, in 1986, Disney did what Disney does best--make money, specifically with a new cartoon that already had a line of plush dolls.  But the direction Disney went was unconventional.  Fluppy Dogs were not dogs.  Rather, they were interdimensional travelers.  It's not your average Disney cartoon.

Greg and Chico on the latest It Was a Thing on TV Live Show cover one of the big movie hits of last year in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. There's all sorts of fun involving bus battles, floating water, dragons, weird magic creatures and Ben Kingsley being awesome!

On the twenty-fourth installment of the Pop Goes The Classics series looking at the Disney animated features, Mirandia Berthold, Andy Atherton & Steve Riddle look at 1989’s, The Little Mermaid. This story is loosely based on the 1837 Danish Hans Christian Anderson fairytale of the same name. Listen as they take a dive, under da sea, to discuss: statues; Ariel’s behavior; where Ursula ranks as an all-time villain; the trio of Flounder, Sebastian & Scuttle and more baffling things they now see as adults. Make sure to stick with them as they talk about all the super fun music that comes from this film and all the core memories they’ve obtained with. And with this film, the Disney animated films renaissance officially begins!

This week on It Was a Thing on TV we go lost in translation while Mike regrets his choice for Money in the Bank for his birthday.
 
First, we start our 2nd annual "Lost in Translation" week with a hit comedy from Australia which bombed in the States in 2008.  Kath and Kim was to be the next big NBC Thursday night comedy.  Despite a plum time slot, a great cast, and a plethora of great guests, it was sent packing after 17 episodes.
 
Next, the Power Rangers franchise has made bank off of taking an existing Japanese series and creatively editing it for an American audience. On one occasion, they took it another step. Was it a parody? Was it a tribute? Who knows?
 
Finally, it's Mike's birthday and he played his Money in the Bank on this?!  Take three musical brothers who gained a modicum of popularity in the 70s despite having no big musical hits and add a cast of zany characters including the future Unknown Comic.  What do you get?  A repetitive and derivative show which lasted 16 shows.
