Every year when we celebrate the United States' birthday, we offer up a patriotic show. This Independence Day is no different, except the event covered in this episode happened in September 1987, to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. This parade didn't offer much in terms of celebrities, but it gave viewers a look at how things were done in 1787.

Thursday Jul 04, 2024
Thursday Jul 04, 2024
On the seventh episode of Cartoons Of Our Youth, Andy Atherton welcomes back Shawn Kidd to talk about one of his favorite cartoons, He-Man & The Masters of the Universe. The guys talk about Filmation’s animation style; Superman tropes present in the show; Orko as a sidekick; the signature scene transitions; where Skeletor ranks as an 80’s cartoon villain; the many characters on both the hero and villain’s sides; characters keeping secrets from each other; Castle Grayskull; the fact that the show was created to support the toyline; the PSAs that close each episode; comparisons to the movie “Beastmaster” and the now famous Skeletor meme before moving on to live watch the two episodes that Shawn selected for them. The ones picked are S1 E3 “The Shaping Staff” & S2 E43 “Teela’s Triumph”.
So grab a bowl of your favorite cereal, park yourself in front of the TV and join us for some great cartoons!

In the fifty-second episode of Making Mt. Rushmore, host/moderator/panelist Steve Riddle welcomes Andy Atherton and Chad Campbell to discuss which Amusement Park Rides/Attractions deserve a place on their respective lists. Is Avatar: Flights of Passage a no-brainer? What about the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror? Does Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance grab a spot? Does the Haunted Mansion or Soarin' deserve a place?
After that, they discuss which Amusement Park Roller Coasters will be part of that grouping. Can you argue that the Velocicoaster shouldn’t get a spot? Will The Beast be included? Is the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in the conversation? What about the Lightning Rod or Lightning Racers?
Then, they do an unprecendented third list and discuss which Amusement Parks make that list. Do you believe that Walt Disney World should be included? What about Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure? Can you argue that Dollywood deserves a spot? Are Disneyland and Hersheypark part of the conversation?

Under normal circumstances, a popular show which lasted 4 seasons would not be fodder for this podcast. For our Marvel shows leading up to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, we're making an exception. Anyway, we think the show got worse once the pizza place part of the premise was abandoned. Just to reiterate, this is only about the first 2 seasons with the pizza place.
