This week on It Was a Thing on TV we’re going mental!
First, in Episode 457, Black History Month 2024 concludes with a comedy starring a comedic legend, trying to capitalize on the success of a similar show on another network. Despite pulling the stops to make it popular including adding a familiar face later in its sole season, Charlie & Company is just a footnote in history.
Then in Episode 458, Mike's birthday is this weekend and he played his Money in the Bank on this short-lived cartoon that, while absolutely hilarious, aired at the wrong time slot and/or aired either a few years early or a few years late. Celebrate Mike's birthday by getting completely mental with Ed Grimley and those in his universe.

PTBN's NBA-Team: Get Your Dukes Up!
Tuesday Feb 27, 2024
Tuesday Feb 27, 2024
The NBA is embroiled in tension and fisticuffs after a predictably boring and meaningless All-Star Game, but why so serious all of a sudden? The pressure is on to make it or tank it, and Adam Murray and Andrew Riche, Place To Be Nation's NBA-Team, are back from the break to talk about the goings-on. Is it possible that we already know the 10 teams in the Eastern and Western Conference that we will see in the postseason? Why did the Nets fire their head coach now, and would it have made any difference after a sideways season? Are the Warriors and Lakers already in their playoff survival mode, or will they kick it into another veteran-laden gear? Riche and Adam also talk about 10-day contracts, the Bucks slowly getting things right under Doc Rivers, the curious case of the Rockets rotation, and much more! So suit up and take it out in episode 299 with the NBA-Team!

It Was a Thing on TV: Episodes 455 & 456 - Melba/Baby...I'm Back!
Friday Feb 23, 2024
Friday Feb 23, 2024
This week on It Was a Thing on TV we continue our celebration of Black History Month
First in Episode 455, Broadway legend Melba Moore was given a starring vehicle for her own CBS sitcom in Early 1986. Sadly, it had the misfortune of premiering the same day as a tragic news story.
However, was the news story the reason the show failed or something else entirely?
Then in Episode 456, Demond Wilson's first post-Sanford and Son role was in this series, as a husband who abandoned his wife and family for seven years and was legally declared dead. Not only was Wilson back on TV after a short time away, but baby, he's back for his family.

On the 39th Edition of Pop Goes the Classics, Andy Atherton, Steve Riddle, and Mirandia Berthold go on a deep space adventure as they discuss the 43rd Disney Animated Film, Treasure Planet. Join the trio as they discuss if the film was released too soon after Atlantis: The Lost Empire; similarities between the film and the book, "Treasure Island"; the pedigree of the film's directors; Jim Hawkins' growth throughout the film; the father-son relationship between Jim and John Silver; the aspects of a pirate film in space; the budding romance between Delbert and Amelia; the quirkiness of Morph; B.E.N. not appearing until very late in the film; the ambitious animation styles of the film and whether the film holds up today or remains a largely forgotten film. So join Andy, Steve, and Mirandia as they follow the stars and continue down their trek of the Disney Animated Film Canon.

In this minisode, Andrew tries to guess whether NBA players, back when they were five-star blue-chip prospects in high school, went to their local public school, a nearby private school, or went to pipeline schools like Oak Hill Academy. Enjoy!
