Hard-Traveling Fanboys Podcast #75: Countdown -- Best Retcons
Friday Sep 22, 2017
Friday Sep 22, 2017
Mild-mannered reporters by day, Greg Phillips and Nick Duke share an intense love of comic books that has made them the Hard-Traveling Fanboys. And if there’s anything that fanboys love, it’s debating what book is better than another book or which character is “cooler.”
Enter Countdown, a monthly episode where Greg and Nick will each give a top five list and debate the merits therein. This episode focuses on a topic typically reviled by fanboys and fangirls: retcons. Short for "retroactive continuity," these occur when comic book writers change characters' established histories for the sake of new stories. While many of these changes are for the worst, we've picked out some that not only work well, but fundamentally improve their characters and universes.
